TONY SERRA SENTENCED TO PRISON!

Tony Serra, always ready to fight the good fight. Will be sitting things out for a bit, at least in the courtroom. He will be spending 10 months in federal prison. For the third time in the last 30 years, he has been found guilty for willfully failing to pay taxes. Now this is not a judgment it was not that long ago that I was having my own legal problems, a 59 count indictment the last count being a tax charge. This would be a reasonable way to make a comparison, but I am not that vain or stupid to try to compare myself to greatness. U.S. Magistrate Spero was correct when he said Serra “has selflessly devoted himself to the cause of justice with little economic benefit.” I have seen first hand, money is not a concern, it is justice. If you don’t like his list of clients, Hells Angels, Black Panthers, Symbionese Liberation Army soldiers, drug dealers, murderers, to name a few, you may not like Tony, But I do and I owe him more than friendship. In addition, that 59 count indictment I mentioned before. District Attorney Bradberry dropped 57 of the counts. I plead to two counts one being a tax charge, and received 3 years probation. I owe Tony, along with everyone else he has represented more than money. Maybe that is the root of his tax problem, how do you put a price on freedom.

HELLS ANGELS WORLD RUN 2005!

The Hells Angels World Run for 2005 has come and gone - with the most extensive law enforcement presence in World Run history. (We will talk more about the extreme measures in the future.) The 2005 Run was held in the city of Prague, in the Czech Republic – a fledgling democracy that just can't loosen its grip on its old traditions. Not that of culture, food, drink, dance, art or music. Traditions that are indigenous to the Czech people, that should never be forgotten. I’m referring to their form of government. Forget about any democratic reform in this former Eastern Bloc country. I know people who yearn for those reforms but by and large the Czech population is so used to having a higher power govern it (and we are not talking about a spiritual power), it appears they can’t yet think for themselves. So guess who took on the task? If you said the United States, you, my friend win a cigar. “Leader of the New World Order" is also acceptable - hell, what’s the difference. Yes, one of our own government agencies told the Czechs how a democratic government would deal with a group like us. Of course, if the Czechs had their own methods, they would understand, and they hoped that the Czechs would also understand when their funding was cut off. Imagine that - pressure through economics. I’m sure some of you might think, what’s wrong with that? It’s the American way and you know what, it is. That’s why some of our leaders should review the Constitution. Maybe we should send the Czechs a copy as well. They might even start thinking for themselves (what a concept). The one thing the American agency didn’t tell them is, they could never have gotten away with it in the U.S.A. I know and love.

LET'S HOPE IT NEVER COMES TO THAT, EITHER.

WAKE UP AMERICA.

HELLS ANGELS VENTURA 50TH ANNIVERSARY!

Hells Angels Ventura had the Honor and the privilege to be part of the 50 year anniversary of our club started in San Bernardino in 1948. Some people in law enforcement took it personally that Members from all over the world converged on the City of Ventura to celebrate. I am not saying all the cops felt this way, I have met some stand up men who just happen to wear a badge. Like in all things there were some who felt they had to prove themselves, to whom is a question we may never have an answer to. They came after us with no regard to our families or even to the laws they had sworn to uphold. The controversy of the cost and effect are still a subject of debate, with some estimates as high as 42 million. Here are some of the headlines from eight years of our lives. Our perspective will come later...............

NO MORE LIES!

Is that too much to ask by today’s standards? If you look at the actions of some of our world “leaders,” you would have to say yes. Leading by example is no longer a practice, but has become a distant memory. Appalled? I hope so, and if not, you should be.

Don’t forget, these public servants are just that -- they work for us. What if these same people, for the sake of argument, actually tried to live in the world they have made political careers condemning? If they did live outside the law, could they make it? That’s a tough call, what with the standards they have grown accustomed to. Let me think: no lying, stealing, cheating… is this too much to ask for? “Honor among thieves” would never be the same. What once was a code understood by those who’ve chosen to live that life would instead become just an interpretation of whatever need or desire happened to present itself at any given moment. No rules. Everything relative.

Would there be different degrees of lying? Lie as infraction, lie as misdemeanor, or lie as felony? Is the lie itself the crime, or would it be the end result of the lie?

Let’s say someone was to start a war by telling a lie. Although people are being killed every day, the tangible crime would be the lie itself, while the war, although appalling, would become a never-ending debate of morality. What’s the jurisdiction? Is this a state or federal lie? Is this factor determined by who tells the lie, or where the lie is told? What if you could prove that, in your culture, lying was acceptable. Would that be a strict defense in a court of law? How long would the debate keep going? All that would depend on a number of issues; notably, how proficient your attorneys are, and, more important, how far your defense chest will take you.

Two profound statements, but nothing compared to the voice of the people if they simply said, “No more lies.”

FAIR LAWSUIT UPDATE!

NBC NEWS SURVEY!

MONEY TO BURN!

Well summer has come and gone and so has lots of tax dollars. The World Run, which prompted the Governor of Wyoming to send a half million dollars to the city of Cody has not been mentioned lately. The Black Hawk chopper never got much media attention so no one had to explain why such a sophisticated aircraft was needed for this annual event. I would think that there must be some type of support crew that would be on hand to make sure all went well for this very expensive machine. The National Guard was said to be on alert, but I couldn't get a conformation. I can say with complete confidence, that every law enforcement agency you could imagine was well represented. But the real million dollar question is, what was going on we didn't know about. Maybe something's are better not known.

WAS THE JUICE WORTH THE SQUEZZ ?

After four years the 2002 casino shootout trial came to an abrupt end. In 2003, 42 Hells Angels where arrested during early morning raids across the west coast. What started out as a big bang ended in a puff of smoke as the Governments case fizzled out. With four years to prepare and an unlimited staff and budget you have to ask what went wrong The answer may be as simple as their never was a case to began with. Not only did the government withhold evidence it appeared they did not follow inv estigative guidelines. Judge Mahan stood by his statement that failure to disclose has consequences by not allowing two Government witnesses to testify. As the case c ontinued to unravel a plea bargain was reached. The life sentences once facing all 42 defendants vanished. Six members plead guilty to no more than 30 months and char ges were dismissed on the renaming 37 members. Once again, was the juice worth the squeeze?

THE CANCER IS SPREADING!

It looks like the cancer is spreading and becoming a global epidemic.

It seems Canadian law enforcement is now using tactics similar to actions taken here in the United States, as well as in other parts of the world. And why have we become law enforcement's favorite target? Primarily, because we're visible. We never hide, which makes an investigation easier. Turn in a report with some great surveillance photos, ask for that big-dollar government grant, and chances are, the check's just around the corner.

It's deeper than that, and yes, there are many factors to consider. There's often personal motivation. Promotions have always gone to those at the top of the list, and with promotion comes recognition. This in turn gives a person "name value," which usually translates to "political dividends." And also consider the stories to be told: with all that experience writing reports, guess what's next -- a book deal? Maybe a movie script? Hollywood, here they come. And believe me, some of these ex-cops are as good as any spin doctor. Which is not to say every cop falls into that category. There are officers who go to work every morning and do their job. It's not always easy. Sometimes, they don't come home. I understand how that can impact a person. I've had several brothers who never came home.

We're all just human. The spirit is strong, but the flesh is weak. Let's all get back to the basics. Don't create something that's not there because you think it might help your career, or you think you've received a divine message compelling you to make the world a better place. All this time, money, and energy just might make the world a better place... but when you get down to it, we like our world the way it is.

Don't try to change it.
